DBU Completes Three-Game Sweep of Bradley to Win Seventh Straight

THE RUNDOWN
DBU completed a three-game sweep and matched their season-high seven-game win streak with an 11-4 victory over Bradley on Sunday at Dozer Park in Peoria, Illinois.  A four-run first inning propelled the Patriots to an early lead and paved the way for starter Luke Eldred, who threw five shutout innings to notch his fifth win of the year.

For the fourth straight game, DBU (35-15, 15-3) scored in the first inning, as the Patriots plated four runs, headlined by a two-run single from Tim Millard and a two-run double by Kody Funderburk.

In the third inning, the Patriots added three more runs starting with an two-run single from Blayne Jones.  Two batters later, Jameson Hannah laced a double to center that scored Jones.  The third run of the inning crossed the plate when Matt Duce scored on a passed ball.

Follwing a Jimmy Glowenke RBI single in the top of the fifth to extend DBU's lead to 9-0, Bradley (29-15, 10-8) eventually got on the board in the eighth when Andy Shadid hit a three-run homer over the wall in left field.  Derek Bangert then brought in a run on a ground ball out to cut the Patriots' lead to 9-4.

In the ninth, DBU added a pair of insurance runs as Jones blasted his second home run of the year to extend the score to 11-4.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- With the win, DBU remains one game back of Missouri State in the MVC standings and will face the Bears in a three-game series to decide the league's regular-season title beginning on Thursday at Horner Ballpark.

- DBU finishes their road schedule with a 13-10 record this season.

DAN HEEFNER ON DBU'S THREE-GAME SWEEP OF BRADLEY
"I'm proud of the way our guys finished today.  That's something we've struggled to do this year after winning the first two games of a series and not being able to finish things off.  I thought all weekend long we were ready to go from pitch one and I feel like we're playing our best baseball right now when it counts the most."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
