Patriots Bounce Back in 18-9 Rout of Oral Roberts

THE RUNDOWN
No. 3 DBU bounced back from being shut out in the first round of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional in a major way, putting up their second-highest offensive output of the season in an 18-9 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday at Arkansas' Baum Stadium.

After a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, the Golden Eagles (38-20) struck first with a third-inning rally. Five hits – three singles and two doubles – gave Oral Roberts a 4-0 lead.

Luke Bandy, starting for the first time since May 26 and making his first start at second base since April 21, led off the bottom of the third with a home run to left field, his fourth of the season. Devlin Granberg followed with a solo shot over the right field bullpen. Jimmy Glowenke brought the Patriots to within one run with a solo homer to left, and two batters later, Tim Millard put DBU (41-20) on top with a two-run blast, the Patriots' fourth of the inning.

The Patriots turned on the jets in the fourth inning, bringing 15 batters to the plate and scoring 10 times on seven hits. Jameson Hannah highlighted the frame, going 2-2 with three RBI and two runs scored. Granberg drove in two runs and scored twice in the inning. Bandy also scored two runs in the inning and drove one in on a bases-loaded walk.

A three-run home run and a two-run homer in the fifth helped ORU cut into the Patriot lead, but Kragen Kechely came on in the sixth inning to slam the door. The sophomore righty hurled three perfect innings to keep the Golden Eagles at bay, striking out two batters along the way.

Garrett Woflorth and Tim Millard picked up RBIs in the seventh inning, and Jimmy Glowenke drove in the 18th run in the eighth with his second sacrifice fly of the game. Bradley Gonzales closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
