The DBU Ice Hockey Team traveled east last weekend to Shreveport, Louisiana, where they earned a pair of wins over East Texas Baptist University. On Friday, the Patriots posted a 6-1 win over the Tigers, followed by a 6-2 victory on Saturday. Top offensive performers from the two game series were
Trenton Lee (6pts),
Brett Stevens (5pts), and newcomer Spence Cowand (5pts).
Cooper Cothran minded the net in both games and faced a total of 87 shots on goal and allowed only 3 goals (.966).
Prior to their two wins over ETBU, the Patriots took a pair of games from Texas Tech to open the season and now sit at 4-0. In the two wins over the Red Raiders, DBU won both games in runaway fashion, winning 22-1 in the opener and 13-4 in the finale. Senior goaltender,
Cooper Cothran, finished the first game of the series facing 26 shots on goal and only allowing one (.963) and freshman goaltender, Randy Miller, faced 27 shots in his first game as a Patriot and only allowed four goals (.857).
Next weekend the Patriots travel to the Pacific Northwest to Seattle, Washington. DBU will play the University of Washington on September 21 and 22.
