Lady Patriots Fall to No. 25 Texas A&M Commerce

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Lady Patriots (7-8) fell to #25 Texas A&M Commerce (10-4) on the road Tuesday evening at the Field House. Senior Madeline Dolberry led the Lady Patriots with eight kills and five digs, while Junior Emma Eakin posted eight kills of her own, as well as a block. Senior Merci Perry had a team-high 17 assists as well as seven digs, while Senior Katie Nicholson chipped in six kills of her own.

After falling behind to open the match, DBU rallied to cut the Lions deficit in half, down 10-5. A service error from Carolina Machado gave the Lady Patriots a point, but not before A&M Commerce went on a 12-3 run making the score 22-13, sending DBU into a timeout. A&M Commerce went onto take the opening set, 25-14.

With the second set tied at 10 all, DBU took a timeout. After the break, DBU traded points with the Lions until the score was 15-15. A&M Commerce took a timeout down three, but the Lady Patriots would keep their foot on the gas with kills from Gabby Grindele and Kasey Holand making the score 22-18 in favor of DBU. The Lady Patriots would score the last three points to take the second set, 25-21.

With the third set knotted up at six, the Lions went on 7-4 run making the score 13-10. With score being 21-16 in favor of the Lions, DBU went on a 4-1 run lead by a pair of kills from Emma Eakin, making the score 21-20 heading into an A&M Commerce timeout. After the break, A&M Commerce would later pull away for the set three victory, 25-21.

Trying to extend the match to a fifth and final set, DBU found themselves down early. Jaryn and Jaslyn Wacker kept their offensive performance up, combining for 22 kills as A&M Commerce went onto take the fourth set 25-13, sealing the match.

- Merci Perry's 17 assists marks her third consecutive double-digit assist match of the season.
- Brooke Clark posted a .333 hitting percentage with six kills.
- Alyssa Pevehouse recorded her 8th service ace of the season in the match.
