THE RUNDOWN
DBU (11-8, 3-4) fell to Tarleton State (11-5, 5-2) Friday night in the first night of a two-match series. DBU now hopes to get a win over the Texans on their home court inside the Burg Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Carly Earnest remained on top of the leaderboard in every set in kills (9) and points (10). Kasey Holand and Lexie Houston also led the match in blocks with four each.
 
The Texans racked up the first seven points of the match, but it was a series of errors paired with a couple kills via Carly Earnest that closed the gap 9-6. A couple more errors and a 3-0 run led by Kayla Brock and Lexie Houston brought the set to a two-point deficit at 16-14 to force a Texans timeout. At 18-23 the The Lady Patriots were able to go for a 4-0 run to close the gap to 22-23, but the Texans took the first set 25-22.  Carly Earnest was on the leaderboard with four kills with Brooke Clark right behind with two. The team's hitting percentage on the set was .132.
 
The Lady Patriots were able to keep the score tight in the beginning of the second set, but a 7-0 run by the Texans put Tarleton State on top at 15-4.  A series of kills by Carly Earnest helped put some points on the board for DBU, but the Texans maintained their lead for the remainder of the set. Carly Earnest remained on top of the leaderboard with seven kills while Lexie Houston (4) and Kasey Holand (3) led the match in blocks.  The Texans took the second set, 25-13.
 
The Texans got out to another early jump in the third set leading 15-6. Tarleton State maintained a steady lead over the Lady Patriots to outscore DBU 25-9.
