Patriots Look to Continue Strong Start Against Ouachita Baptist

COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
The Patriots travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist in their third game of the year. DBU is coming off of a two-game sweep in the LSC/RMAC Challenge, earning wins over Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa.

The Patriots controlled the majority of the game against Colorado Christian, winning 78-66, but had to outlast Colorado Mesa in a scrappy 67-66 victory. The Patriots were led offensively by Junior guard, Chandler Jacobs, who had a combined 41 points in the two games.

DBU starts the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2017-2018 season, a year that the Patriots also started with wins over Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa. They would go on to start 9-0 and would have a 26-6 record by the end of the year, making it to the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

PATRIOT STORYLINES
-DBU won their season opener for the 5th straight season.
- The Patriots have 76 rebounds as a team after the first two games, that is tied for second in the Lonestar Conference.
- Junior guard Chandler Jacobs scored his 1000th career point against Colorado Christian and 41 total points on the weekend. Those 41 points rank seventh in the conference in total scoring; he is also seventh in the LSC in shooting percentage at 53.1 percent.
- Senior guard Conner Lidiak is off to a hot start, scoring 17-points against Colorado Christian. Lidiak heated up during a stretch of the first half when the rest of the team went cold. Lidiak’s efforts held the Cougars at arms’ length and ultimately helped result in a 12-point victory.
- The Patriots had 52 three-point attempts in the first two games, putting them on pace for 728 attempts on the season. This would be 200 fewer attempts than 2018-2019 campaign.
- DBU has capitalized on turnovers this season, scoring 40 points off of 18 giveaways on opening weekend. 

SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
- Ouachita Baptist is 1-1 on the season after splitting games against St. Cloud State (W 56-51) and Minot State (L 66-62) in the Big Red Classic.
- The Tigers finished eighth in the Great American Conference a season ago with a final record of 14-13.
- OBU is led offensively by Junior guard Kedarious Smith who has 24 points and three buckets from beyond the arc in two games.
- The Tigers’ leading rebounder is Junior forward Matt Stanley. Standing at six-foot, eight-inches, Stanley has 15 total rebounds and 17-points in his first two games. 
- Head Coach Dennis Nutt is in his eighth season at the helm for the Tigers. During his time, the Tigers have reached two GAC tournament championships and reached the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2016. Nutt is a former NBA player with the Dallas Mavericks from 1986-1988.

DBU has won all three match-ups over the Tigers in the series history, including a 100-77 victory in their last meeting on November 17th, 2018.
