THE RUNDOWN
In their first ever appearance at the Lone Star Conference Tournament, DBU (15-16, 7-11) fell to UT Permian Basin (20-8, 11-7) Tuesday night in Odessa, Texas. The last time the Lady Patriots qualified for a conference tournament was in 2015 in the Heartland Conference. This game concludes the season for the Lady Patriots.

Both teams came out strong at the start of the first set. Six straight kills by UT Permian Basin put the team on top at 12-5. The Falcons' offense kept pressure on DBU as they posted 16 kills on the set to win, 25-16.
Lexie Houston topped the leaderboard with a .750 hitting percentage while
Brooke Clark held the top spot with 19 total attacks.

In the second set, the Lady Patriots maintained a steady lead over the Falcons as they jumped out to a four-point lead backed by a series of
Emma Eakin kills. The Falcons came back to close the game to a one-point deficit at 18-17 before a DBU error tied the game. A kill via
Brooke Clark began a 3-0 run for the Lady Patriots to put them back on top by three at 23-20. A kill
Lexie Houston kill helped DBU to a win at 25-23.

A strong DBU offense went for three straight kills at the start of the third set to put the team on top at 4-1. A block assist by
Bailey Hebert and
Kasey Holand helped the Lady Patriots extend their lead by five. The Falcons found some energy to go for a 4-0 run to tie the set at 14-14, but a couple errors and a service ace from
Macey Winburn put DBU back on top at 20-16 to force a timeout. UT Permian Basin came back to tie the set again at 21-21 and pushed forward to go for a 5-0 run to give them a win at 25-23.

The Lady Patriots got out to another early lead in the fourth set after a series of Falcon errors and a
Hannah Tawney kill put the team on top at 5-2. The Falcons came back to close the gap at 12-12 and tied the set four more times before pulling ahead by two at 19-17. The Lady Patriots fought back to tie the set at 21-21 with help from
Brooke Clark, but it wasn't enough to slow the Falcons as they won the set 25-22.
