The DBU Women's Soccer season came to an end Thursday in Bellingham, Washington, in a 2-1 defeat to Dixie State.Â
Hope Koym made eight saves, and the Patriot offense sent nine shots of their own on net, but the Trailblazers held off DBU to advance to the NCAA quarterfinal.
In the 26th minute, Jill Bennett scored on an assist from Ambree Bennett to beat Koym. Despite the back and forth battle, Whitley Johns found the back of the net on a through ball from Sophie Stewart to put DSU up 2-0.
Gabrielle Heller notched a goal in the 89th minute off a set piece to bring the Patriots within one, but Dixie State played keep away in the final minute to secure the win.
