COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
After grinding out a 97-87 victory over Lubbock Christian in a triple overtime thriller, the 19th ranked Patriots will charge into San Angelo for a duel with the Rams. Both squads are undefeated on the young season and will look to remain perfect while adding another quality conference win on their resume.
DBU will need to recover quickly with a sharp turnaround on the road. Angelo State has the advantage of staying at home after they knocked off Tarleton State on Thursday 80-71. DBU is not only on the road, but also played 15 heart pounding extra minutes in their triple overtime win. It was the first time that the Patriots played three extra periods since 2016 when they edged St. Edwards, 80-78.
PATRIOT STORYLINES
- DBU currently sits atop the standings in their division and is lurking behind West Texas A&M (9-0) and UT Permian Basin (8-2).
- Coach Flickner and the boys keep their undefeated start to the season alive, chasing a program record of 8-0 to start the season, set in both the 2017 and 2008 seasons. DBU made the NCAA tournament in both of those seasons.
- Sophomore Carson Hughes exploded for a career high 22 points in the overtime victory.
- In a season where the Patriots have struggled from the charity stripe, they took advantage of the free ones on Thursday night (17-21). Chandler Jacobs converted on eight of ten from the line.

-Senior guard Ronald Bell is the offensive leader for the Rams. He is coming off of a 16 point performance against the Texans on Thursday.
