THE LEAD
DBU trailed Oklahoma State heading into the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night, but
Blayne Jones' two-run triple plated the go-ahead run in a 7-5 win at Horner Ballpark. OSU (12-7) scored five runs in the second inning to take an early lead that would stand until Jones drove in the winning run.
The Patriots (15-5) answered the Cowboys' second-inning rally with a four-run bottom of the second inning, using four walks and two hits to plate four runs.
Luke Bandy,
Jackson Glenn, and
Bryce Ball picked up RBIs in the DBU second.
The score held at 5-4 until Jones came to the plate with
Jimmy Glowenke at third and
Evan Sandmann at second in the eighth. The sophomore second baseman worked a six-pitch at-bat that ended with a triple off the center field fence, his second of the season. He came around to score an insurance run on
Christian Boulware's pinch-hit single.
Burl Carraway earned his third win of the season with 1.2 innings of perfect relief. The sophomore left struck out three of the five batters he faced.
MacGregor Hines picked up the save, working out of trouble with back-to-back strikeouts and a game-ending flyout.
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Evan Sandmann (3) and

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON HIS TEAM'S RESILIENCY
"I thought it was a great job in the eighth inning, but the thing I'm most proud of is that second inning. To have a five-spot and we were just not sharp, not good, lots of free bases, and to bounce right back to score four right after that happened, and then to put a bunch of zeroes up on the board the rest of the ballgame."
