THE LEAD
After going back and forth for five innings, Oklahoma State pulled away with a three-run sixth inning in a 6-3 win over DBU at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Tuesday. The Patriots (25-11) made OSU (22-13) pitching work but could not turn patience into runs.
A two-run home run gave the Cowboys the lead in the second inning. A bases-loaded walk by
Jackson Glenn in the third cut the lead in half, and the Patriots tied the game in the fifth when
Blayne Jones scampered home on a wild pitch,
A solo homer in the bottom of the fifth put OSU back on top, and the game's only sustained rally in the sixth padded that lead. The Cowboys plated three runs on two hits with the help of a walk and a DBU error.
Glenn's fifth home run of the season led off the eighth to cut the deficit to three, but the Patriots would come no closer than that.
