Two-Out Hitting Helps Patriots Finish Season Sweep of TCU

THE LEAD
DBU collected six two-out RBIs in a 9-3 win over TCU at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth on Tuesday. Andres Sosa collected a career-high four hits four RBIs as part of a 16-hit effort by the Patriots (28-12).

The Horned Frogs (23-16) took a 1-0 lead in the second, but Bryce Ball's two-out single drove in the tying run in the top of the third. DBU took the lead on a two-run throwing error after Blayne Jones attempted a perfectly-placed bunt up the third base line.

Sosa and Jones picked up RBI singles with two outs in the sixth, but TCU answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. A two-run Sosa single and an RBI double by Herbert Iser came with two outs in the seventh to pad the Patriot lead. Sosa picked up his fourth RBI with a single in the ninth.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots earned their first season sweep of TCU since 2011.
 - Travis Stone picked up his first win in relief.
 - DBU's 16 hits were the most allowed by TCU this season.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON JONES' FIFTH-INNING BUNT
"He did a great job. We don't sacrifice bunt very often, but when we do it's a game situation and try to put the pressure on the defense. That's exactly what he did. He put it in the perfect spot. It was a really tough play for their third baseman, he threw it away, and we scored two. That sparked us and got us going."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
13 - The Patriots stretched their streak of RBIs with two outs to 13 after driving in all seven runs with two outs in Saturday's nightcap against Bradley.
3 - DBU had three batters collect at least three hits for the third time in 2019.
.438 - The Patriots batted .438 with two outs Tuesday.
