THE RUNDOWN
DBU (2-3) swept East Central (0-5) Tuesday evening in their first home game of the 2019 season. Freshman
Macey Winburn had an impressive debut on DBU home turf posting a career-high nine digs and tying her season-high in assists (10). Junior
Brooke Clark led the team in digs (12) and was second on team in kills (12).
In the first set, four straight kills by the Lady Patriots led the team to an early 4-1 lead over the Tigers. The Tigers bounced back with two kills from freshman Zaniya Norvell and an attack error by
Brooke Clark. The Lady Patriots maintained a steady lead over the Tigers throughout the set with help from
Brooke Clark who posted eight kills on the set. Freshman
Macey Winburn posted a career-high six digs in the first set.

DBU pulled ahead of the Tigers from the jump in the second set. The Lady Patriots widened their lead over East Central with
Emma Eakin posting four kills ahead of a DBU timeout. Eakin lead the Lady Patriots to a double-digit lead over the Tigers with five kills. The Patriots led 19-10 allowing the Tigers to only score two points before winning the second set.Â

The Tigers posted the first point of the third set with DBU matching every point. The Tigers and Lady Patriots were tied 6-6 before DBU pulled ahead with a service ace from
Brooke Clark. A kill by
Emma Eakin and
Kasey Holand helped the Lady Patriots extend their lead 10-6. The Tigers came back to close the gap, 13-10. DBU pulled ahead once again to a 20-12 lead over the Tigers. A kill by
Emma Eakin helped lead the team to a 25-15 win over the Tigers.

"The girls executed well our game plan which was serve aggressive and focus on fundamentals this point in the season. We are still working some things out but over all we did well with our serve and pass game and that is our biggest focus right now."
