THE RUNDOWN
It was a clean sweep for DBU (5-3) as they faced Colorado Christian (4-4) Saturday afternoon in the Burg Center. The Lady Patriots fought to the end to take their first win again the Cougars since 2011.

DBU started off the first set hot, as they jumped out to a 6-2 lead over the Cougars. A couple kills by CCU kept it close, but the Lady Patriots were able to pull ahead to a 12-6 lead.  DBU was able to hold steady for the remainder of the set. A kill by the Cougars closed the gap to 21-19, but it wasn't even to get ahead.  A slam by Kasey Holand from Strealy Sizelove took the Lady Patriots back to 3-point lead, 22-19.  It was a battle to the end as CCU looked to close the gap, but another Holand kill and a couple errors from the Cougars took DBU to a 25-20 win. Lexie Houston and Hannah Tawney led the set with a .667 hitting percentage.
 
Neither team was able to get much separation in the second set, resulting in four ties before the Lady Patriots finally pulled ahead to a 10-7 lead. DBU led 19-14 after a pair of kills from Brooke Clark forcing the Cougars to take a timeout. The Lady Patriots kept the momentum to extend the lead 22-15. A final kill by Lexie Houston helped the team take the second set to win 25-17.
 
There wasn't much breathing room in the third set as the two teams kept within a 2-point range.  A bad set by the Cougars and a kill by Brooke Clark helped the Lady Patriots extend their lead to 13-9. The Cougars looked to close the gap, but DBU extended their lead by six points.  The Lady Patriots now leading 24-20 with the Cougars final point going out of bounds to give DBU the win.
