The DBU Hockey team (1-0-0-0, 2 pts) grounded the Mean Green of UNT (0-1-0-0, 0pts) by the score of 10-5 to open the TCHC season on Thursday night. Played at the StarCenter in Irving, the Patriots jumped out to an early 5-0 lead as Spence Cowand lit the lamp twice in the first period. UNT would battle back in the second period to make it a contest, but senior Trenton Lee would contribute three goals to earn the first hattrick of the season, solidifying an opening night conference win for the Patriots.

DBU will head east on I-20 this Friday to take on East Texas Baptist University for a two-game set on September 20 and 21.
