DBU Hockey dropped both contests in their two-game set against East Texas Baptist University, 7-1 on Friday night and 11-3 on Saturday. Friday evening's contest was a battle from the beginning as ETBU lit the lamp twice in the period of action. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they would be unable to counter on the scoreboard until the waning moment of the third period when
Lane Haught rifled one past the netminder. In a night when ETBU simply had more chances than DBU, a night free of power-play opportunities meant that the Patriots had an uphill climb from the beginning.
On Saturday, the Patriot's rebound opportunity also came up short. After going down, 2-0, early in the first period,
Brett Stevens responded by finding the net on a power-play goal, the first of the weekend for DBU.
Spence Cowand and
Trenton Lee would also score in the game, but ETBU defended their home ice and swept the weekend.
The Patriots will look to rebound this weekend when they host TCU at home in a two-game set on Thursday and Friday.
