No. 15 DBU Rolls to Key Conference Win Over Texas A&M-Kingsville

THE RUNDOWN
No. 15 DBU moved into a tie for first place in their division of the Lone Star Conference after knocking off Texas A&M-Kingsville, 72-55 on Saturday at the Burg Center.  Four Patriots scored in double-figures, headlined by Chandler Jacobs' 19-point performance.  Conner Lidiak also added 14, while Carter Brown added 10 points and Jonathyn Washington finished one rebound shy of a double-double after scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high nine rebounds.

The win over the Javelinas snapped Texas A&M-Kingsville's eight-game win streak and gave DBU (12-1, 6-1) their third straight victory since their only loss of the season to Texas A&M-Commerce.

In a first half controlled by the Patriots, DBU opened up a 13-point advantage with 3:27 to go in the half before Texas A&M-Kingsville (10-3, 6-1) cut the Patriot lead to two points at the break.

Tied at 37 apiece in the opening moments of the second half, a jumper from Tylan Dean with 18:37 on the clock gave DBU a lead that they would not relinquish.  The Patriots extended their lead to seven points with just inside five minutes left to play before going on a 12-2 run to close out the Javelinas.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE TEAM'S DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE THAT HELPED LEAD TO A WIN
"I thought we were scappy and did a good job in the second half of getting some turnovers and some deflections. We knew it was going to take that kind of effort today and I'm proud of how our guys came out and played with great effort and intensity."
