STUNT Begins Inaugural Season in Oklahoma

OVERVIEW
The DBU Cheer and STUNT team will begin its inaugural season Saturday, February 8 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Abe Lemons Arena. 

The two-day competition will kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday against Oklahoma City. The Patriots will go on to face Oklahoma Baptist at 3:45 p.m. followed by Maryville at 4:45 p.m. On Sunday, the Patriots will go up against Southwest Baptist at 12:15 p.m. and wrap up the competition at 4:30 p.m. against Southwestern Christian.

The DBU Stunt team will perform partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, group jumps and tumbling. With four quarters to play, the team that executes the skills best wins the round and the point, and has the opportunity to determine which routine level will be called next.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Oklahoma Baptist ended their 2018-2019 season ranked third at the Division II National Championships.  The Bison opened their 2020 season against Oklahoma Baptist and dropped the team 21-2, before beating Oklahoma State 18-5 in their scrimmage at Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City University also appeared in the top ten of the 2019 Division II National Championships.  The Stars are coming off a win at the Baker Classic where the team topped 10 competitive cheerleading teams with an 86.22 score.

Both Southwest Baptist and Southwestern Christian will open their 2020 season this weekend.

UP NEXT
The Patriots will conclude the regular-season portion on their STUNT schedule with another two-day tournament on February 28- 29 (Fri-Sat) in Dallas. The first game will be against the University of Texas at 4:30 p.m. at the Burg Center.
