THE LEAD
No. 21 DBU struck early to take the midweek contest 5-4 against Baylor on Wednesday night at Baylor Ballpark.
Jackson Glenn and
Austin Bell each recorded a pair of RBI as five Patriot relievers contributed out of the bullpen in the win.
DBU (12-4) opened the scoring in the second inning as
Jackson Glenn belted a two-run homerun to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead.
The Bears (10-6) answered in the bottom half of the second as Davion Downey doubled home Andy Thomas. Cade Currington singled home Downey after a Kyle Nevin RBI groundout to make the score 3-2 in favor of Baylor.
Ross Carver inherited a bases loaded situation with one out, throwing one pitch as Chase Wehsener grounded into a 5-4-3 double play.
DBU scored in the third and fifth innings on a pair of
Austin Bell sacrifice flies to give the Patriots the 4-3 lead.
Ryan Wrobleski hit a solo blast to extend the Patriot lead before Mack Mueller erased it with a solo shot of his own.
Burl Carraway came into close the ninth inning and retired the Bears in order with a pair of strikeouts to seal the win.
The Patriot bullpen worked 7.2 innings of three-hit baseball as

Kragen Kechely,
Peyton Sherlin, and Carraway made appearances.
