THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball Team fell to A&M-Kingsville 71-66 in the second round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament Friday afternoon at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The Patriots slowly chipped away at a 14-point deficit throughout the duration of the second half, but DBU's perimeter shooting woes would not allow them to overcome the Javelinas en route to the five-point loss.
Â
DBU outbattled A&M Kingsville on the boards but could not generate enough offense to capitalize on their rebounding advantage, shooting 14 percent (3-21) from behind the arc. In contrast, five different Javelinas converted a three-pointer on a collective 47 percent shooting.
Â
Chandler Jacobs led the way with a double-double. The junior guard grabbed 10 rebounds and 17 points to lead the Patriots' offensive attack. Senior forward
Jonathyn Washington continued his stretch of dominant play with 13 points on 6-11 shooting.
