MLB.com unveiled the top 30 prospects for all 30 Major League teams this week and five players from DBU were listed among the rising prospects in their respective organizations, as
Burl Carraway (Cubs)
, Jameson Hannah (Reds), Bryce Ball (Braves), Seth Elledge (Cardinals), and
Jimmy Glowenke (Giants) were each tabbed as top 30 prospects. Among those five, Carraway, Ball, and Elledge are each listed on their team's 60-man rosters and could see time at the Major League level in 2020.
Carraway, the 51st overall pick in the MLB Draft last June, is rated the Cubs' No. 11 prospect and the second-best left-hand pitcher in the organization. The power arm lefty could factor into the Cubs' plans in 2020 season and end up being the first player from this year's draft to reach the Big Leagues. Carraway is coming off a shortened junior season at DBU in which he notched five saves and a pair of wins in eight appearances, while striking out 17 batters over 9.1 innings.
Jameson Hannah is the next highest rated from player from DBU after being rated the No. 17 prospect by the Cincinnati Reds. A second round selection of the Oakland Athletics in 2018, Hannah was traded to the Reds last year for a Major Leaguer in Tanner Roark. The star-studded outfielder reached the Advanced A level in his second season of professional baseball last year and is currently ranked the fourth-best outfielder in the Reds' organization.
Bryce Ball checks in as the No. 22 prospect in the Atlanta Braves' system. After just one year in the minors, Ball may get his shot at the Majors in 2020 after putting up monster numbers last season. In 62 games between the Rookie and Class A levels, Ball hit .329 with 17 home runs and a 1.023 OPS. At 6'6" and 240 pounds, Ball is a first baseman that could see time as a designated hitter with the new DH rule in the National League.
Like Hannah,
Seth Elledge was also involved in a trade for Big League talent when he was acquired by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 from the Seattle Mariners for Sam Tuivailala. Elledge is ranked the as the Cardinals' No. 28 prospect after earning a promotion to Triple-A midway through the 2019 season. Elledge stands 6'3" and 240 pounds on the mound and fashions a fastball in the mid-90s to go along with a breaking ball that has the movement of a cutter.
Jimmy Glowenke was the second Patriot taken in the 2020 MLB Draft when he went to the San Francisco Giants with the 68th overall pick. Glowenke was the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2018, as well as the league's Defensive Player of the Year in his first season at DBU. In three seasons at DBU, Glowenke was a .340 hitter and was off to a torrid pace in 2020, hitting .415 in 13 games before the cancellation of the college baseball season.
Along with five Patriots being named among the top 30 prospects for their respective teams, five players from DBU are also currently on Major League rosters including Chance Adams, Ryan Goins,
Colin Poche, Drew Smith, and Cy Sneed.
