THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Tennis team finished on top in their season opener in Odessa, Texas. The Lady Patriots faced competition from UT Permian Basin and the Western New Mexico Mustangs.Â
Kate Daugherty teamed up with Kylee Shannon to win every doubles match of the weekend. This competition marks the first for Shannon as a Lady Patriot and extends Daugherty's winning streak for doubles to four. The duo of Adriana Carpenter and Taylor Leslie also beat out all their opponents to go undefeated, as did the team of Devon Austin-Canning and Leslie Omeire.Â
The Lady Patriots had an impressive weekend on the singles side as well, only losing two matches throughout the competition.
QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE WOMEN'S PERFORMANCE
"This weekend our women came to play, they took care of business and left with a good feeling about what we need to do to get to where we want to be by spring. This was a fantastic start to the year, I'm excited to see what they can do."
