THE RUNDOWN
No. 10 DBU ( 11-2, 7-1 LSC) bested Midwestern State (6-3-3, 3-1-3 LSC) 4-2 Saturday afternoon. Four different Patriots scored in a diverse offensive attack that produced DBU's fourth straight win.
Delaney Schmidt became the program's second-leading scoring in the eighth minute off a Summerlyn Heller set piece. The Patriots continued to bombard the Mustangs' backline as Jenna Patterson and Madison Parks bested the reigning LSC Goalkeeper of the Week, Taylor Camp, to send DBU into the break with three goals on 13 shot attempts.
The Patriots put the game out of reach in the 59th minute, when Ashley Merrill scored on a sliding kick on a deep pass from Michelle Gonzalez (Marta.) The Mustangs' found their second goal of the afternoon in the 83rd minute as DBU secured the 4-2 win.Â
