Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

DBU Scores Three Unanswered, Tops OC, 3-2 in OT

THE RUNDOWN
DBU rallied to knock off Oklahoma Christian, 3-2 in overtime at Eagle Soccer Field. An offensive spark in the 76th minute led to a cluster of goals from Christian Naizer, Emmanuel Loni, and Peyton Voelker to give DBU its winningest season since 2017.

A strong Eagles defense and even stronger 25 miles per hour winds controlled most of Wednesday's nightcap, buffeting the Patriots into four shot attempts and a 1-0 halftime deficit. In the second half, an Oklahoma Christian penalty kick threatened to put the game away, as DBU could not capitalize on its own penalty opportunity down 2-0 in the 71st minute.

However, the Patriots continued to attack, tallying six shots and four corners in search of a catalyst. The offensive fire ignited in the 71st minute when Ethan Martinez connected with Christian Naizer to put DBU on the scoreboard. The flames began to grow as Emmanuel Loni scored one minute later off an assist by Peyton Voelker to reset the game at 2-2 to conclude regulation.

Threatened with their second double-overtime match in as many games, DBU pressed to end the game in the extra 10-minute frame. Finally, in the 98th minute, Voelker kept the ball for himself to deliver the walk-off goal and the 3-2 win.
