Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

DBU Drops Match to TWU to Finish With Series Split

THE RUNDOWN
After a 3-2 win in five sets on Tuesday, the DBU Volleyball team fell in four sets, 3-1, to Texas Woman's University on Wednesday night at the Burg Center.  Sophia Black had a career night with a 16-kill performance, but it was not enough as the Lady Patriots fell for just the fourth time in their last 18 matches at home dating back to the end of the 2018 season.

DBU (1-5) appeared to be picking up where they left off last night after claiming a 27-25 win in the first set, but TWU (1-3) seized the momentum in the second set with a 25-19 victory.  The six-point margin was the largest win in a set by either team in their two matches this week.

In the third set, the Pioneers took a 9-5 lead before the Lady Patriots went on an 6-2 run to even the set at 11 apiece.  A kill by Macey Winburn would later put DBU ahead 15-13, but the TWU tandem of Kaia Saylor and Trixie Oche led a Pioneer rally that outscored the Lady Patriots 12-6 the rest of the way and capped off a 25-21 win.

TWU continued to apply the pressure leading for the entirety of the fourth set before DBU drew even at 18.  Tabitha Spray's kill put the Pioneers back on top, 19-18, and TWU would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way, closing out the match with another 25-21 victory.
