COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The DBU Men's Soccer team continues their home stand this week when they host Texas A&M – International University at Patriot Field on Friday, March 18th at 3:00 p.m.

The Patriots are coming off of one of the best performances in the past several years after they beat Oklahoma Christian by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday evening. DBU would dominate the game for the full 90 minutes and held possession of the ball for a vast majority of the match. In a game that saw wind play a significant factor, the Patriots did an excellent job of keeping the ball on the floor and moving it around to break through the defensive lines of OCU.

In the 23rd minute of the match, DBU would get on the board when freshman Carlos Lara would whip a ball in with his left foot off of a Patriot corner. The ball would beat OCU's goalie and curl into the back of the net to give the Patriots their first lead of the young season. Four minutes later, DBU would combine around the 18 once more and double the lead, Mason Wallak collected the ball just outside the box off of a Jide Adesanya pass and would curl the ball beautifully into the far corner. The Patriots were not quite done, with nine minutes remaining in the half Christian Naizer would deliver an excellent corner that would find the head of Emmanuel Loni to see DBU take a 3-0 lead into the half.

Going against the wind in the second half, the Patriots continued to do a solid job at moving the ball around the field with one and two touch passes. Keeping the ball on the floor limited just how big of a factor the wind was when going into it head on. DBU stayed strong defensively, only allowing a few chances on frame.

Overall, the Patriots played the way they are looking to solidify as their style of play all afternoon – staying strong on the ball, organized tactically, and aggressive defensively. Putting in a complete shift for the full 90 minutes would see the Patriots win the game by a score of 3-1.

PATRIOT STORYLINES
 - Redshirt freshman Jide Adesanya continues to lead the Patriots up front and impact the game. Through the first three games, the No. 9 has one goal and one assist and continues to cause havoc for any backline he faces. With his speed and size, Jide is comfortable as a target forward and is also dangerous in open space, which makes him versatile.

 - Emmanuel Loni and Mason Wallak have had a solid impact on each of the games the Patriots have played so far this year. Loni and Wallak are both good with the ball at their feet and can create chances out of nowhere for DBU. With both scoring their first Patriot career goal on Tuesday, they will look to continue to impact the game in a positive way.
 - Head Coach Chip Dutchik continues to touch on the way these guys have bought-in to the style of play the Patriots have. The way that DBU has come out and played in the first three games of the season is much different than years past. All of these players are comfortable on the ball and are looking to maintain possession as much as they can and through the first three games of the year it has allowed them to control strong spells of the game.

 - 16 of the 20 players who have seen action so far this season for DBU have played at least a full game (90 minutes) between the first three matches. This stat demonstrates the depth of trust that Coach Dutchik and his staff have in these players, with the majority of them seeing significant minutes this early on in the season.

 - Junior Sergio Garrido continues to see solid minutes, 193 in total so far this season, at the right back role for the Patriots. Garrido is a strong tackler of the ball and is another vocal presence along the backline for DBU. In the attack, Garrido likes to get forward and provides good services into the box for the attacking runners of the Patriots.
