River Town, Patriots Walk-Off UTRGV for the Second Straight Day, 6-5

THE RUNDOWN
The Patriots walked it off against UTRGV in back-to-back days as River Town delivered a two-RBI game-winning double to take game three over the Vaqueros, 6-5. DBU (14-6) has now won five in a row after scoring five runs in the 8th and 9th innings to complete the comeback

Ray Gaither started on the mound for DBU, going 4.2 innings and allowing two runs. Gaither had trouble finding the strike zone at times, walking four and striking out three. The Vaqueros got their first run in the second inning when Coleman Grubbs doubled to the center field wall. UTRGV wouldn't score again until the fifth when a ground out to Benefield plated a run.

Jackson Glenn would respond for the Patriots in the seventh, blasting his sixth home run of the season over the DBU bullpen. Unfortunately for the Pats, UTRGV would add a three run blast in the eighth. In the bottom of the inning, DBU loaded the bases and scored twice. River Town singled to bring home the first, while Cole Moore lifted a sacrifice fly into right field to plate the second.

In the ninth, Zach Heaton was lights out, shutting UTRGV down in order to give DBU the chance to walk it off once again. DBU loaded the bases one more time against the Vaqueros in the bottom half. Nico Burgarello put the bat on the ball and drove in an RBI on a fielder's choice. With runners on first and second, River Town stepped to the plate and bashed his fourth hit of the game into the left field gap. Burgarello stormed all the way around the bases and beat the throw with a head-first slide, slapping the plate with his left hand and scoring the game-winning run.
