COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The DBU Men's Soccer team is back home on University Hill after two consecutive road games last week. The Patriots will host Lubbock Christian University on Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 p.m. on Patriot Field.

The Patriots are coming off of a tightly contested Saturday matchup with Oklahoma Christian up in Oklahoma City. DBU and the Eagles would battle it out through two overtime periods to see the final score end in a 0-0 draw. Throughout the game, DBU demonstrated the grit and determination that this team has woven into their DNA. The Patriots would go down a man in the second half but were able to stay organized and strong defensively to minimize the chances that the man advantaged Eagles would see.

The defense for the Patriots, and goalkeeper Kyle Renton, performed well for DBU throughout the game. Playing against the wind in the first half, Chip Dutchik's side would see a lot of action in their defensive half of the field. The center back duo of Payton Franklin and Brock Bennison were excellent in their shape and strong in their challenges. Koli McCullough was once again solid in his right back role, locking down his attacker for the entirety of the game. Bruno Correa also performed well in his first career start for DBU, handling his one-on-one battles out on the wing superbly.

Although down a man for 30 minutes of the match, DBU was able to still find solid spells on the ball and create several dangerous chances going forward. The Patriots would battle it out through overtime with the Eagles and would see the came come to a 0-0 draw and earn a tough point on the road.

PATRIOT STORYLINES
 - Emmanuel Loni continues to be a solid and reliable player for his DBU side. The transfer from Lake Erie College is a dangerous player with the ball at his feet and can play in the 10 spot, as the center forward, or out wide on the wing. Loni is great on the ball and can create chances on the dribble or through his passing.

 - The three midfielders in Matthew Hayes, Carlos Lara, and Mason Wallak played all 110 minutes in Saturday's draw. With Hayes being the only returner in this group, Wallak and Lara have certainly come into the DBU team and solidified their spot.

 - DBU is looking to get their first win over the Chaps since 2016 when the Patriots topped LCU 3-2 on University Hill. Brooks Friedman, David Fraga, and Riley Alvey would all score a goal on that day to see DBU to the win.

 - Alan Acuna has been a threat going forward this season for the Patriots and will look to keep that up. Acuna currently sits in 8th in the LSC in shot total. The Marshall native will continue to look to get into dangerous areas and convert the shots that he is seeing.

 - Andres Gacharna and Jimmy Garcia continue to be valuable assets for Chip Dutchik's coaching staff. Gacharna and Garcia both come from extensive playing backgrounds and have played a major role in building the brand of soccer the Patriots have built into their team.
