DBU Drops Clash with No. 17 Arizona at Frisco College Baseball Classic

THE RUNDOWN
The Patriots dropped game three of the Frisco College Baseball Classic, 15-8, to Arizona on Saturday afternoon. A day defined by crooked numbers, DBU allowed four runs in the first and seven runs in the sixth. While the Pats came back to take the lead once, they couldn't overcome the second wave of runs from the Wildcats.

Jared Pettitte got the start for DBU, but struggled to find the strike zone. He hit a batter and walked the next three to put Arizona on the board. The Wildcats would leave the bottom of the first with a 4-0 lead. DBU got on the board when Ryan Wrobleski singled home a run in the top of the second.

The Pats would continue their comeback through the middle frames, getting a run in the fourth off of a River Town RBI-single. Andres Sosa would tie the ballgame in the fifth with a massive blast over the left field wall. The three-run home run was the second of the season for Andres. DBU pushed two more across in the sixth to take their first lead of the day, aided by a balk from Vince Vanelle and an Austin Bell single.

But it was a long sixth inning that would prove fatal to the Patriots' cause. Arizona responded with seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the inning to take the lead back.

DBU would score one more in the top of the seventh on the second RBI-single from River Town, but the Patriots bats would fall silent after that.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Jackson Glenn extended his hit streak to 10, collecting a base hit in every single game this year.
- The seven runs in the sixth inning were the most that the Patriots have allowed in 2021.
- Free passes hurt the Patriots once again. DBU issued 11 walks to Wildcat hitters today.
