THE RUNDOWN
No. 3 seed DBU fell to top-seeded Grace College, 0-4, in the semifinal round of the NCCAA Championship Tournament on Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Patriots (11-11, 2-5 LSC) close the book on the spring season with an 11-11 record and their most wins since 2017.
DBU's Will Fiala and Gabe Garrido lost a gritty 7-6 line 2 doubles battle that gave the Lancers the first point of the afternoon. Grace College would then go on to pick up critical singles wins from lines 3, 4, and 6 to seize the win.Â
HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE TEAM'S DIRECTION
"The guys played hard today. We didn't play our best, and Grace was very tough, but they have to be proud of this season regardless. I saw some things out of our guys that truly impressed me, most notably Will and Roman stepping into the lineup this week. They came in and competed at a high level. I'm very proud of our efforts this season and we're excited to take this program to new heights. We'll be back."
