THE RUNDOWN
The No. 2 Patriots (3-1) rejoined the win column with a 1-0 win over Barry Sunday afternoon in Miami Shores, Florida. Kaleigh Naizer found the bottom left corner of the net off a deep assist from Michelle Gonzalez (Marta) in the 35th minute to hand the Bucs their second loss of the season.
Hailey Brown stood tall for the Patriots, recording four saves in her second shutout of the year. The Patriots' defense did a good job of eliminating quality offensive looks against a Bucs team that had recorded 58 shots over the last two games. DBU landed four of its eight shots on goal against Barry, but Naizer's score in the first half would be the only offense mustered by either side.
Tensions would mount with the Florida heat as Barry looked to erase DBU's 1-0 lead in the second half. The Bucs recorded two yellow cards in a second half that also featured 11 fouls. But the Patriots survived both the 86% humidity and Barry's final offensive attacks to return home with the 1-0 win

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON THE WIN
"It was a very hot and humid day down here in Florida. I am very pleased with our ability to play through that and find a way to win. Barry is a tough, physical team that caused us some problems in the first half. I thought we made good halftime adjustments and had more control in the second half. It's always tough to win on the road, and especially so in these conditions. We are pleased to be headed home with the win."
