Patriots Win Third in a Row, Ground Falcons 82-75

THE RUNDOWN
DBU notched its third straight win with an 82-75 victory over UT Permian Basin on Thursday. Cameron Kahn scored a career-high 28 points, and the Patriots (9-6, 3-1 LSC) stayed in front of the Falcons (9-6, 1-3 LSC) for the entire second half.

The sturdy DBU offense that went 2-0 at the Burg Center last week made the trip to Odessa. The Patriots shot 54% from the floor and received season-high contributions from up and down the roster. Kahn scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the first half to give the Patriots a comfortable 44-34 lead at the break.

However, 23 points from UTPB's DaJaun Jones and a second-half surge from Jordan Horn (17 points) erased the double-digit lead and kept the Patriots under pressure until the final moments. Ricky Lujan and Julian Miranda helped fend off the Falcons in the second half. Lujan tied his season-high with 18 points and created havoc on defense with four steals. Miranda reset his season-high scoring mark for the second straight game, pouring in 17 points and a game-high seven assists.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
-DBU is on its second three-game win streak this season.
-Falcons' 3-point threat Miles Daniels was held to just 1-of-3 from deep.
-The Patriots improve to 3-2 on the road.

COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE WIN
"That was a gritty, tough win on the road. I am so proud of our guys and how they handled adversity down the stretch. DaJuan Jones is a special player for UTPB, but tonight Jules Miranda totally won that matchup."

"Ricky and Isaac also made some great defensive plays down the stretch. Cam had a great game both scoring the ball and making plays for others. Overall everyone contributed - even the guys on the bench brought great energy and gave us a huge lift, and a 'Next Play' mentality."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
3 -Julian Miranda nailed a season-high three triples.
26 - DBU scored 26 points off UTPB turnovers.
296 - Coach Flickner earned the 296th win of his career.
