THE RUNDOWNÂ
The Patriots marched to their fifth straight win after taking down Midwestern State by a score of 79-69 on Saturday. DBU (11-6, 4-1 LSC) cruised to a 21 point lead before a gritty response from the Mustangs (6-12, 2-4 LSC) muddied the game at the Burg Center. Three Patriots scored in double figures, and
Cameron Kahn (22 points, 6-of-10 shooting) posted his third consecutive 20 point game.Â
DBU got off to a hot start on both ends of the court. The Patriots pushed the ball all over the floor to find great offensive looks and create 10 assists off 15 first-half field goals. Kahn and
Jalen White (15 points, game-high seven rebounds) punished MSU under the basket while the 3-point attack opened 5-of-10 from deep. The defense scooped up 12 points off Mustang turnovers, and the Patriots threatened to pull away after with a 44-26 halftime lead.
DBU's offense wouldn't come as easily in the final 20 minutes. MSU's Jermane Carter thundered his way to 17 second-half points, and the Mustangs outscored the Patriots 43-35 in the final frame. Three drunks by Carter and a four-minute scoring from DBU gave Midwestern State momentum with three minutes remaining. But a 3-pointer from
Austin Garner (12 points) and timely 3-point plays from Kahn and White helped keep the Mustangs at arm's length.Â

COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE WINÂ
"I thought we got off to a great start. We were turning them over and keeping them off the offensive glass. But Jermane Carter is a difference-maker, and we knew it wouldn't be as easy in the second half... We knew MSU was going to compete, and they went on a run, but we were able to answer with a run of our own and finish with a double-digit victory which is always tough."
