DBU Struggles in Straight-Sets Loss to St. Edward's

Box Score THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (20-5, 11-2 LSC) lost via straight-sets at the hands of the St. Edward's Hilltoppers (9-16, 6-8 LSC) in Austin. For the first time this season, DBU has dropped consecutive matches.

The match opened in a tight fashion. With the score tied at 11, the Hilltoppers caught fire, going on an 11-2 run. St. Edward's would take the set, 25-17, despite 5 kills on 6 errorless attempts by middle blocker Lindsey Otero.

The flame from the first frame did not die for the Hilltoppers as they started the second set with a 9-3 stretch. The two squads seemingly traded points for the next 19 rallies, but St. Edward's took control again, finishing the set by claiming 7 of the last 11 to duplicate the score from the first.

DBU claimed the first point of set three to earn its first and only lead of the match, 1-0. The Hilltoppers ran away with the game one last time, holding the Lady Patriots to only 12 points in the frame, to hand DBU its 5th loss of the year.
