Charles-Alfred Selected to Compete in 2022 ITA Cup

DBU's Angela Charles-Alfred was selected on Thursday as one of 16 NCAA Division II women's tennis players from across the nation to compete in the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia. With today's announcement, Charles-Alfred, a graduate student transfer from Xavier University of Louisiana, becomes the third player from DBU in the last three years to earn the nod to the ITA Cup joining Kate Daugherty (2019) and Taylor Leslie (2021).

Two weeks ago, Charles-Alfred reached the finals of the ITA South Central Regional Championship at the Arlington Tennis Center. During her trek to the finals, she dropped no more than six games in a single match before falling in the finals in a close three-set battle to St. Mary's Ashley Penshorn, a two-time All-American and previous tournament champion.

Competition at the ITA Cup begins on October 13 and concludes on October 16.

Formerly known as the Small College Nationals, the ITA Cup has a history dating back to 1986. It is the only singles and doubles national championship event for the Division II and NAIA levels.
