Basketball Overcome by No. 4 Nova Southeastern

THE RUNDOWN
No. 4 Nova Southeastern (2-0) trounced DBU (0-2) on Sunday afternoon in both teams' last game of the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Florida. The Sharks' aggressive play stymied the Patriots from gaining any momentum in DBU's first 30-point loss since 2015.

Nova Southeastern hot from the start. The Sharks scored the game's first 9 points and were up, 30-8 with a little over 9 minutes remaining in the first half. In addition to its defensive woes, DBU offensively, shooting only 28% from the field.

The Patriots looked to chip away at the 26-point hole in which they found themselves. DBU managed to narrow the margin to 17 with 13 minutes left in the game, but Nova Southeastern was too much to handle as the Patriots left Florida with their second loss of the year.

BLAKE FLICKNER'S THOUGHTS ON THE WEEKEND
"We wanted to be a part of this tournament to play some of the best teams and to learn a little bit about ourselves. Unfortunately, we got exposed in some ways that were difficult today, but they're things that we can learn from."

UP NEXT
DBU makes the trek to Grand Junction, Colorado, next weekend for the Lone Star/RMAC Challenge. The Patriots will face off against Colorado Christian on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
