Lacrosse Wins Season Opener in Route of Oklahoma State

The DBU Men's Lacrosse team opened their 2022 season against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday, February 19. The Patriots traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma, with a clear focus and goal to make a statement against the Lonestar Alliance Conference foe in OSU. First year head coach Zebulon Williams led the Patriots to a physically dominant 12-3 victory.

Junior attackman Christian Beckett paved the way on offense with 6 goals and 3 assists, with senior midfielder Zach Conners also heavily contributing with 3 goals and 3 assists. Defenseman Avery Smith led an aggressive defense with 10 ground balls, earning hard-hitter defensive player of the game. Senior attackman Grant Mahoney was awarded player of the game for his efforts retaining offensive possessions as well as scoring the first goal of the game, and the 2022 season for the Patriots.

"Today was a great stride for DBU lacrosse under coach Zeb. I feel that we played together and battled for all 4 quarters, and the score shows that we have been putting in the work." Mahoney states. "We are looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for our next opponent."

DBU is scheduled to take on UNT on March 8 at Patriot Field.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
