Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

DBU Comes Back from 17 Down to Top ENMU, 83-77 on the Road

THE RUNDOWN
DBU rejoined the win column with an 83-77 victory over Eastern New Mexico Thursday night at Greyhound Arena. Game-high performances from Cameron Kahn (26 points) and Julian Miranda (20 points, 7 assists)  helped the Patriots (14-7, 7-2 LSC) erase a 17 point deficit and survive a near triple-double from ENMU's Kentrell Pullian (17 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.)

DBU opened 1-of-12 from the floor and placed itself in a double-digit deficit that took most of the first half to erase. A layup from Kahn with a minute remaining briefly tied the game at 33 before back-to-back buckets from the Greyhounds (6-12, 2-7 LSC)  put the Patriots back on the comeback trail at halftime.

After scoring a game-high 11 points in the first half, Kahn answered with 15 more in the second. Julian Miranda would reinforce him with a 17-point outburst that helped the offense find its footing. ENMU countered with its best offensive performance of 2022. The Greyhounds scored five in double figures and blasted the Patriots with a 5-of-6 three-point performance from Adam Hess.

DBU almost sealed the game with a 6-0 run that put the Patriots up by nine in the final two minutes. However, a three from Hess and a putback by Yosneir Cobas reinvigorated the ENMU bench with 48 seconds remaining. Miranda and Kahn helped maintain the two-score buffer with strong free-throw shooting that gave DBU its fourth consecutive road win.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
-Miranda's 20 points are a season-high and the second-most of his career.
-Austin Garner launched a career-high 12 three-point attempts.
- DBU improves to 6-2 on the road.

COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE COMEBACK WIN
"ENMU came out with a desperate attack and jumped on us early. We didn't start well at all. But wow, what a turnaround from there. The guys really responded and pulled out a gritty, tough win. Jules and Cam and Austin carried the load offensively, but Carson, Breezy (Javion Richard), and Bull (Isaac Bullard) gave us a spark when we needed it."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
15 - Garner scored 15 points off five 3-pointers.
7 - After reaching double figures just once in his first 12 games, Miranda has scored 10-plus points in seven straight games.
20 - The Patriots scored 20 points off Greyhound turnovers.
