No. 5 Patriots Enter LSC Play Against Midwestern State in Wichita Falls

COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
The DBU Men's Basketball team extended their win streak to four games with a 104-75 home win over East Central on November 22. The Patriots quickly dictated the pace of play in the first two minutes of the game, constantly keeping the Tigers on their toes. The Patriots shot 55 percent from the field. DBU promptly pulled away at 4:22, creating a 30-point advantage, their largest lead, before closing out the game with a 29-point win.

The Patriots now turn to conference play as they open their Lone Star Conference schedule against Midwestern State on Thursday night at the D.L. Ligon Coliseum. 

PATRIOT STORYLINES 
- DBU is ranked as high as No. 5 in the D2SIDA Media Poll, their highest ranking in program history, and are ranked in all three national polls.
- The Patriots are riding a four-game win streak to open the season and are shooting .549 (145-264) over their first four games.

- DBU currently ranks fourth in the LSC in assists, averaging 14.8 per game. 
- Defensively, DBU ranks first in the LSC in turnovers forced per game (20.50) and third in steals per game (10.8). 
- Cameron Kahn is currently ranked seconnd in the conference in field goal percentage and is averaging a team-high 20.5 points per game over the firrst four games 
- Ricky Lujan is averaging 14.8 points per game while regestering nine defensive rebounds and seven assists. 
- Austin Garner passed Julian Miranda for the seventh-most three point field in goals in program history in DBU's win over SWOSU.

SCOUTING MIDWESTERN STATE 
- Midwestern State has opened the season with a 6-0 record and is 5-0 on their home floor. The Mustangs are coming off a 95-78 win over Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday.
- The Mustangs have averaged 95 points in their first six games and are allowing 78.3 points per game. 
- Pierre Sanders leads Midwestern State with 14.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Sanders is shooting 55.4 percent from the field overall. Sanders garnered LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors after a triple-double against St. Mary's. 
- Duncan Alevok was recently named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring 12 points with nine rebounds and swatting five shots in 23 minutes in a win against Colorado State-Pueblo. Alevok is also currently ranked first in the conference in blocks. 
- Lewis Austin is shooting a team-high 44 percent from three-point range, connecting on 15-of-34 shots from beyond the arc.
- Midwestern State is ranked 2nd in the Lone Star Conference in rebounds, averaging 43 per game. 

SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots lead the all-time series, 7-2. In their last meeting at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on February 8, 2022, Midwestern defeated DBU, 75-61. This will be the third contest between the Patriots and the Mustangs in Wichita Falls since DBU defeated Midwestern 88-83 on November 15, 2008.

The Patriots remain on the road as they travel to Lawton, Oklahoma, to face Cameron. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, December 2 at 3:00 pm.
