COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
On Thursday night, No. 4, DBU defeated Western New Mexico, 107-97, at the Burg Center in Dallas. Trevor Frank led the way for the Patriots, scoring a season-high 25 points as the redshirt freshman guard went 6-for-6 from three-point range.
A three-pointer by Trevor Frank gave DBU a 20-17 advantage six minutes into the game and a lead they would not relinquish. The Patriots went on an 18-0 run over the next three minutes. The Mustangs looked to close the deficit, but a Frank three-pointer put DBU ahead by 13 points with 5:34 left in the half. Two Bullard free throws ended the first half, with DBU leading 67-43.
A relentless effort by the Patriot's defense did not allow a Mustangs field goal for the first two-and-a-half minutes in the second half. Cody Stevens drained a three-pointer to give DBU their largest lead at 29 points with 13:11 left on the clock. WNMU answered with a 9-0 run to draw within 19 of DBU. A
Justin Haire dunk with 6:58 left to play seized control of the game for the Patriots as they eventually held on for a 10-point win.
On Saturday, the Patriots continue their Lone Star Conference at home against Eastern New Mexico.
PATRIOT STORYLINES
- Defensively, DBU ranks first in the LSC in turnovers forced per game (20.50) and third in steals per game (10.8).
- DBU currently ranks second in the LSC in assists, averaging 17.8 per game.

SCOUTING EASTERN NEW MEXICO
- Eastern New Mexico defeated the UT Tyler Patriots 67-66 in a down-to-the-wire game on Thursday night.
- The Greyhounds have averaged 85.9 points per game, an improvement to the 74 posted last season.
- Eastern New Mexico ranks first in the conference in assists per game (18.9) and second in fastbreak points (18.57).
- Jahcoree Ealy leads Eastern New Mexico with 157 points, averaging 22.4 points per game. Ealy is currently ranked first in the conference in points averaged per game.
- Jose Murillo is ranked second in the conference in blocks and currently leads the Greyhounds with 13.
- Greg Johnson currently leads the team in assists (17) and steals (11).
SERIES HISTORY
In their last meeting at Eastern New Mexico on December 17th, 2022, the Greyhounds defeated the Patriots 73-63. This will be the fifth match between DBU and ENMU since the Patriots defeated the Greyhounds 83-69 on November 25th, 2017.
