No. 4 DBU suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday evening in Dallas, Texas, in a 104-94 defeat to Eastern New Mexico. The Greyhounds were led by Jahcoree Ealy's career-high 42 points as the Patriots suffered their first loss of the season.
The Patriots went on a 6-0 run early in the first half. A Trevor Frank jumper followed by a Justin Haire free throw gave DBU their largest lead of the first half,17-12, with 14:19 left to play. ENMU responded with an 8-0 run to put them up 20-17 with a little over 13 minutes left to play in the half. A Ricky Lujan steal and a Cameron Kahn dunk halted the Greyhounds' moment and closed the deficit to one. ENMU quickly responded with an 8-0 run, and pulled away to close out the first half with a 51-36 advantage.
DBU looked to come back in the second half, going on an 8-0 run early on with 13:23 to play in the game. Jaden Shelvin knocked down a three-point jumper to close the deficit to 10 with just over 5:30 to play, but the Patriots could not pull within striking distance and suffered their first loss of the season.
