The DBU STUNT program was back in action for the final time to close out their home tournament and dropped a 17-11 decision to Concordia University Irvine.
FINAL SCORE (DBU- 11 and UCI- 17)
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 4-2 The Patriots came out with incredible energy and confidence winning all 4 possible points. It was a perfect start to the game against a challenging competitor.
Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 8-3 Going into Quarter 2, DBU carried this self-assured attitude and it showed through their performance. The Patriots competed Pyramid 6 for the first time this season and hit the routine, cinching all 4 points and only allowing CUI to tie on two routines.
Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 8-7 Following Halftime, DBU competed in the upper levels back to back. It was a highly competitive round, but the Patriots ended up falling to the Eagles in all 4 rounds.
Quarter 4 - Combination Routine Final Score: 11-17 DBU tried their best to close the gap against the Eagles, but came up short. The DBU STUNT team put up a strong performance throughout the Quarter, but it was not enough to seal the win.
"This was an incredible game to close out our weekend," said Graduate Assistant Mattie Royal. "This was our first challenging game of the season and we expected that. I am so proud of the way this team focused on the details, supported one another through every moment, and celebrated our own small victories." Veteran
Annslie Woodard also proudly stated, "Behind every great routine is a team who believes they can! Today we proved to ourselves and each other WE CAN. I am grateful to be a part of this growing program as we build our legacy."
