Lady Patriots Make a Statement in Oklahoma

THE RUNDOWN

The DBU Women's Tennis team won a total of 18 single matches and 13 doubles matches in their season opener in Tahlequah, Oklahoma this weekend.

In singles, DBU won the majority of their matches against every team they competed against. DBU women defeated UCO, Emporia State, and Ouachita Baptist in doubles play this weekend falling to only the host school NESU.

The Lady Patriots had an impressive weekend all around, with every player notching at least one match win throughout Friday and Saturday's action. Freshman Emily Buchanan, Madalyn Smelley, and Sarah Stewart stepped up in their first collegiate competition winning multiple matches over the weekend.

HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE TEAM'S START TO THE FALL SEASON
"This was a great first weekend for the girls, they came out very strong and made a statement, especially with the new doubles pairings. I'm proud of the new players adjusting to the level and our veterans looked very confident in their matches as well. Good things are coming."
