DBU would begin their domination on the boards, as the Patriots' went on a 21-2 run to put DBU up 35-16.  The Javelinas finally ended their scoring drought when Marcus Jones-Green scored on a fast break layup, but a Ricky Lujan steal and layup on the other end pushed the Patriots' lead to 42-23. TAMUK would eventually start a 6-0 run with 1:24 left to play, before DBU closed out the half with a 51-34 advantage.

The Javelinas outscored the Patriots 12-4 right out of the gates in the second half, and a 10-0 run by the Javelinas would eventually trim DBU's lead to six. A Cameron Kahn jumper gave the Patriots a 64-49 lead with 11:32 left to play.
