COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
No 6. DBU closed their final non-conference matchup on December 19 in a 99-78  win over Mississippi College. Cameron Kahn led the Patriots with a career-high 32 points, and four other Patriots registered in double figures, including Ricky Lujan (17), Trevor Frank (17), Deng Dut (12), and Ta'Jay Dunlap (10) to help lift the Patriots to a 9-1 start to the season.  

DBU went on an early 10-0 run capped off by a pair of Ta'Jay Dunlap free throws to give DBU a 25-9 lead with 11:41 left to play in the first half. Mississippi College responded with a 6-0 run, closing the point deficit to five. A Cameron Kahn layup ignited a DBU 9-0 run, bringing their lead back to double digits. In a game of first-half runs, the Choctaws bounced back with a 9-0 run, but the Patriots would eventually take a 46-37 lead into the locker room.

The Patriots extended their lead back to double digits to begin the second half when Ricky Lujan drained a jumper to put DBU up 48-37. DBU pushed their lead to as many as 23 when they went on an 11-0 run to go up 67-44. The Patriots persisted with their unwavering defensive effort, not allowing a Choctaw field goal over the next three minutes. DBU built their largest lead on a set of Trevor Frank free throws to put the Patriots up 84-54 with 7:16 left on the clock. Despite being outscored 24-15 over the last seven minutes, DBU cruised to a 21-point win.

On Thursday, the Patriots return to action when they host UAFS at the Burg Center.

PATRIOT STORYLINES 
- DBU is ranked as high as No. 6  in the NABC Coaches Poll and is ranked in all three national polls.
- DBU currently ranks second in the LSC in assists, averaging 17.8 per game. 
- Defensively, DBU ranks first in the LSC and 11th in the nation in turnovers forced per game (19.83).
- Cameron Kahn ranks third in the league in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game, and fifth in rebounding with an average of 7.7 rebounds per game.
- Deng Dut leads the Patriots in assists (34). Dut is currently ranked 13th in the conference in assists per game (3.4). 
- Ta'Jay Dunlap ranks second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (3.3).

SCOUTING UAFS
- UAFS is coming off a 77-63 win over Dallas Christian on Saturday and are 0-5 through their first five LSC contests.
- The Lions rank eighth in the conference in defensive rebounds per game (25.5). 
- Lian Ramiro leads UAFS in points (131) and assists (24).
- Payton Brown is ranked 13th in the LSC in total 3-point field goals made (21).
- Jace Linenberger is the Lions' leading rebounder, averaging 4.7 per game. Linenberger ranks 10th in the conference for offensive rebounds per game (2.3). 

SERIES HISTORY
DBU leads the all-time series, 15-14. In their last meeting at the Burg Center on January 28, 2023, DBU defeated UAFS 48-35. This will be the 30th matchup between DBU and UAFS since the Patriots defeated the Lions 93-75 on December 19, 2009.
