Lupo Delivers Equalizer in Last Minute Against UT Tyler in LSC Opener

THE RUNDOWN
DBU and UT Tyler played to a 3-3 draw tonight in their Lone Star Conference opener in Tyler, Texas. Evan Lupo scored the equalizer and his first DBU career goal in the last minute of the match. Hunter Dierlam recorded a season-high of two goals.

The Patriots opened the match with an early shot on goal two minutes in from Evan Pustejovsky who attempted to get a header to the bottom left of the net but it was saved by Alan Johnson. UT Tyler's net would see multiple shots on goal from DBU with shots from Ethan Michael, Evan Lupo, and Pustejovsky but none could get the Patriots on the board. The half looked to be ending in a quiet scoreless draw until UT Tyler's Jordan Toy was able to get a goal past Patrick Banich in the 45th minute ending the half with UT Tyler leading 1-0.

UT Tyler settled into a comfortable lead two minutes into the second half as they scored their second goal of the night 25 seconds in. Two minutes later the UT Tyler Patriots scored their third goal of the night. The Patriots looked to have an opportunity to get on the board as Gavyn Rosales had a shot on goal towards the bottom center of the net but it was saved by Johnson. DBU found their momentum as Hunter Dierlam was able to open scoring for the Patriots with a goal in the 58th minute from a Pustejovsky corner kick. The Patriots succeeded in another set-piece goal as Dierlam made it goal number two of the night for the Patriots from another Pustejovsky corner kick. With the match winding down it seemed the Patriots wouldn't be able to equalize until a goal by Evan Lupo came in the last minute forcing a 3-3 draw against UT Tyler with an assist from Carson Schoenbeck.
