COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The Patriots earned a 1-0 triumph over Eastern New Mexico Saturday night in Portales, New Mexico. The goal by Gavyn Rosales in the 12th minute solidified DBU's fourth win this season.
The Patriots wasted no time at the start of this match, already registering a shot on goal in the first ten minutes. The aggressive approach proved to be a success as DBU opened the scoring on the pitch in the 12th minute. Taking advantage of a defender's misstep Chase Turcotte was able to get in front of the ball to send it to
Gavyn Rosales. Rosales being in the right spot at the right time was able to send the shot towards the bottom right corner awarding DBU the early goal. The Patriots controlled the match for the rest of the first half, limiting the Greyhounds to just three shots, as they notched 10 of their own and ended the half up 1-0.
The Greyhounds were given an open net opportunity in the box, despite the scramble the Patriots were able to clear the attempt keeping the score 1-0 in the 58th minute. DBU looked to double their advantage with a set piece chance in the form of a corner and were able to get a shot off a corner but the shot was called offsides hindering the Patriot's attempt at 61:32. Despite the offensive surge from ENMU in the final minutes of the match, DBU held on to their lead, earning their second consecutive win of the season.
