THE RUNDOWN
The Patriots ended the first leg of the 2024-25 campaign with a 5-3 win against the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, setting their overall record to 6-2 and 3-1 in Mid American Collegiate Hockey Conference (MACHA) Western Division play.
Paced by Christian Becket (8 goals, 7 assists),
Buddy Barritt (7 goals, 5 assists),
John Canavan (3 goals, 9 assists) and Logen McKenzie (5 goals, 6 assists) the Patriots have jumped out to the best start since the program made the leap to the MACHA four years ago.
DBU opened their season with a sweep of Texas Tech (8-0, 6-0) in front of a raucous home crowd before going on the road for two weekends. The first road trip saw the Patriots bounce back from a Friday night 3-2 loss to Arkansas with the program's first ever win against the Razorbacks by a score of 4-1.  During the following weekend, DBU traveled further north to face off against the University of Nebraska-Omaha, winning two MACHA conference games (4-1, 5-4). Game two of the series came down to the very end when
Buddy Barritt netted the game winning goal with just 18.4 seconds remaining.
