COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The DBU Men's Soccer suffered a 1-0 loss to St. Mary's on Wednesday night at Patriot Soccer Field. The game remained scoreless through the first 28 minutes before a goal by STMU's Lewis Nohar gave the Rattlers the lead.  Despite the many Patriot attempts, none found the back of the net. 

Patriots Field saw a tight battle between DBU and St. Mary's throughout the first half as the pitch entered the 15th minute scoreless with only one shot on goal that came in the 12th minute from the Rattlers. However, the Patriots conceded in the 28th minute as St. Mary's opened the scoring with a top right corner goal by Lewis Nohar. Evan Lupo attempted an equalizer in the 41st minute with a header but was thwarted by the Rattlers goalie Johnny Thurbin. The half ended 1-0 in St. Mary's favor. 

DBU entered the second half with a close opportunity to equalize as Evan Pustejovsky was able to get a touch over to Avery Brazzell as Thurbin was tripped. However, Brazzell was not able to get a good look at it as St. Mary's was there to deflect the attempt. The Patriots were able to keep the ball in their attacking half but weren't able to complete a goal. Pustejovsky looked to get the Patriots on the board with a right footed rocket towards the net but the shot was deflected in the 88th minute. The Rattler's defense held the Patriots off until the clock ran out, resulting in a 1-0 loss for DBU.

- Peyton Volker tied his season high in shots with five Wednesday night. 
- DBU is currently fourth in the Lone Star Conference standings, currently tied with West Texas A&M with 12 points.
- Evan Lupo leads the Patriots in minutes totaling 1288. 
- Peyton Voelker leads DBU with five goals and 12 points this season. 
- Gavyn Rosales is second in the Lone Star Conference for his shot accuracy (0.500). 


SCOUTING ST. EDWARD'S
- St. Edward's currently holds a 6-4-4 record this season. The Hilltoppers moved to third in the Lone Star Conference rankings with 15 points after their 1-0 win over Sul Ross State Wednesday night. 
- The Hilltoppers are third in the conference in assists per game (1.50), points per game (4.93) and total goals (24).
- Christian Mezas leads the conference in assists per game (0.46) and total assists (6).
- Arthur Souza is ranked second in the conference in game-winning goals (3) and total goals (8).


SERIES HISTORY 
St. Edward's leads the all-time series, 12-1-1, against DBU. The last matchup between the two squads ended in a 1-1 draw on October 11, 2023. This will be the 15th matchup between the Hilltoppers and the Patriots.
