THE RUNDOWN
No. 9 DBU Women's Soccer is the 2024 Lone Star Conference Tournament Runners-Up after falling 2-1 against Angelo State. McKenna Vela had the lone goal for the Patriots, keeping them in control for 88 minutes before the Rambelles scored in the 88th and 103rd minutes.

The No. 6 offense in the nation had trouble getting past Angelo State's defensive line for a majority of the first half. They only made four shot attempts during the first 45 minutes, but a goal by McKenna Vela in the 30th minute was enough to give the Patriots a lead. Vela dribbled through two Rambelle defenders to make a right-footed shot from the left side of the goal. ASU continued to look for the equalizer but was stopped four times by senior goalkeeper Breanna Bowen.

In the second half, DBU held onto their one-goal lead until the 88th minute when Graycen Rasmussen scored for the Rambelles. Neither team could find the game-winner in the final two minutes, leading to a 10-minute round of overtime.

DBU and ASU remained tied at 1-1 in the first round of overtime, leading to an additional 10 minutes of play. In the second overtime, Angelo State scored in the 104th minute to make them the 2024 Lone Star Conference Tournament Champions.
